August 15, 2010 – Sacramento, Calif.  – Just completing its 30th season, Stairway to Stardom, concluded its eight-week Summer music program for young, non-professional musicians, at the Crest Theatre in Sacramento, Calif. on Sunday, August 15, 2010. The event was covered by all local news media.

With twenty (20) competing bands, participating students were placed in a band with fellow student musicians and a professional music coach to create, develop, and perform original music on a professional level, with a final concert held at the Crest Theatre.

Sponsored by music promoter, retailer, and educator, Skip Maggoira — owner of Skip’s Music, introductory meetings were held at Skip’s Music Stores in Sacramento, Modesto, and Elk Grove on June 5, 2010. Open to any young, non-professional musicians, participants, included guitarists, drummers, keyboardist, bassists, vocalists, and other instrumentalists. The only prerequisite was to have a basic instrument proficiency and the ambition to work hard for eight weeks.

Designed for those considering a career in the music business, Stairway to Stardom teaches students the technical and artistic skills necessary to develop their music & performance skills.

This year’s Main Stage Sponsor was The Track Shack, with winning and runner-up bands having the right to record their music at The Track Shack Studios for online distribution and sale at local music retailers.
